Burl Mallet or Wooden froe-club used for striking a splitting froe in the making of shingles. A worn one will show much indentation along the head. This one shows medium strikage marks. All wooden except for a metal lock piece on top to help attach the handle to the head.

9.5" x 36" sledge hammer made of pale, unfinished wood. The handle is smooth from sanding and handling, while the large barrel shaped head is rough and splintered especially on the sides of contact. It looks as if a large chunk from the underside of the head splintered off during use. Obvious signs of use, but good condition.
