Sepiatone photograph of Bloomington Masonic Temple, 9.5"x7.5", date unknown. "Masonic temple" is written in black ink in the upper left hand corner.This building is a monolithic limestone structure with very few windows. It is in the federal style. There is a protruding frontal wing of the building where the door is. Above the door there are two Corinthian columns and a triangular pediment above the pilars. Inside the pediment, the Mason Emblem is carved in relief. Near the top on all the walls, there are relief carvings of floral garlands. There is ornate trim along the roof. The lower half of the building has 5 horizontal "stripes" and inset windows. There are stairs and a walkway leading up to the door. The building is rectangular with a taller square part protruding from the top. On top of this, there is an urn decorating the peak of the roof. There are sidewalks along the two visible sides of the building, and an intersection in the foreground. There are two leafless trees on the left side of the building. |
