Black and white photo portrait of Will H. Hays, photo measures 9" x 7.125", mat measures 14" x 9.875", October 2, 1941. Pictured is a dark-haired middle-aged man with his short hair combed over to the right. He is looking off into the distance to the left of the photographer. He is well dressed and wears a dark suit, white dress shirt (high collar), and tie. Underneath the photo on the matte, "To my friend Blaine W. Bradfute,/ with the sincere afffection/ of a friendship of one hundred/ years --/ Sincerely/ Will H. Hays/ [at left] Oct 2 --1941" is written in black ink, cursive writing. There is some writing on the back of the matte that is nearly impossible to deciper, "Harding's Passmat[??] General/ + 1st mata[??] Picture Czar[??]" in black ink along the top edge near the left corner. |
