Black and White sepia-toned photograph of a brick American Foursquare style house with white trim, 10.75"x7.5", date unknown. Lanscape orientation, 1.25" white band up the right side. The house is 2 1/2 stories high, made of red brick with white trim. There is a wide front porch, with four white beams, and a steep roof with a tall brick chimney bisecting a dormer. There is a large bush in front of the house, and another one to the back and left of the house. The lawn is raised from the sidewalk by a low stone wall (for the whole block) with brick pillars. The house sits on a corner lot, with grassy front and side yards. There are seven other structures visible in the photograph, five leafless trees, and three power or telephone poles. The photograph was taken at a distance that shows the sidewalk in front of the house, the brick-paved road in front of the house, and the sidewalk on the other side of that street. There is handwriting on the back: '#30' in black ink; and '504-510 N. Fess' and 'University Courts Fess now Folklore Dept' in pencil. 'PHOTOGRAPH BY CHAS. GILBERT SHAW BLOOMINGTON, IND.' is in purple-blue ink stamp on the back, and a light illegible signature in light blue ink overlaps it. |
