Description |
5.625" x 4.4375" black and white photo of a large commercial brick building that stood at 109 South College (Bloomington), located on W. Kirkwood in the 1940s / 1950s. The old First National Bank is to the left. The building houses "The Shade Store" and "American Security" with entrances, display windows, and neon signs at its front. On the right side of the building is a large sign and store front for "Dutch Paints". The building is three stories with a stairwell at its right corner leading to a basement level. The roof line is flat except at the four corners where the wall is higher and accented with decorative stone knobs. The bricks are painted white, while the first floor facade is covered with a dark paneling (wood?). The windows are asymmetrical and of varying size. A tall metal street light stands at the corner in front of the building. At the right side of the building towers a tall double electricity pole with power lines stretching across the upper right corner of the photo frame. Across the street from the building, the head of a parking meter appears in the lower left corner of the frame. |
