Black & white photograph, 10"x8", May 9, 2001. The Second Baptist Church, located at the corner of 8th and Rogers Streets, is adding on to its building. some cinstruction work appears to be happening with scaffolding and a trailer parked along the side of the church in the middle of the photograph. A "Speed Limit 30" sign can be seen on the far right hand side of the photograph. The Reverend Ernest Butler has been the pastor of the congregation for the past 40 years. The congregation began 140 years ago, in 1861. The addition will be used for new classrooms, offices, and a fellowship hall. Reads on backside: "Photog: Debbi Conkle." |
