Description |
Black and white glossy photocopy of Methodist Church, 5"x8", 1891. This Methodist Church is located on South College Avenue. The church has a very tall steeple, that appears to be made of brick. It has a cross at the very top. The tower that the steeple is attached to is also made of brick, with two top story window vents, two upper story windows, two sets of chapel windows, and two sets of three ground floor windows (one for each side). The front of the church has an Orthodox cross at the top point, which is followed by six tiers branching downward. There is a circular window in the top center, and a limestone block directly below it. Below that are three chapel windows, the largest one being in the middle. Below the chapel windows are two medieval arched entry doors. In front of the doors is a brick walkway that extends out and splitting to the right and to the left. There appears to be another small section of the church to the left of the main entryway, that has an upper story window and a ground floor window, both of which match the others. In front of the church are five to six bare trees. The church has a dark iron fence surrounding it. The church extends back to the right, where three chimmneys can be seen on the roof. There are also four upper story windows and four ground floor windows. Behind the church to the right, there is a small light colored house, with an awning and a small front porch. There are more bare trees behind the house. On the back of the photo, in the upper left corner, "Indiana Room" is written in black ink. "Monroe County Library" is directly below, stamped in black ink. Towards the center right, the following is written in blue ink: "Methodist Church on S. College @ 1891, Bloomington, IN". And on the very bottom right corner, "copy 3" is written in black ink. |
